About Walmart Supply Chain Automation

Sam Walton founded our company with the belief that the customer is #1. Today, Walmart’s Supply Chain team is at the forefront of retail transformation, working together to delight our customers and save them both time and money.

Walmart’s Supply Chain Automation team develops and deploys innovative technology to transform how products move through one of the largest supply chains in the world. We focus on automating facilities, improving associate experiences, increasing operational capacity, and delivering better quality and service to our customers.

The Supply Chain Automation organization supports automation across Ambient, Grocery, Fulfillment, and Transportation. As an Automation Product Manager Intern, you will have an opportunity to experience how product management, engineering, operations, data, and automation come together to solve complex supply chain challenges at Walmart scale.

Fulfillment Automation Software

The Fulfillment Automation team works with robotics and advanced automation technologies to transform how customer orders are processed and fulfilled across Walmart’s next-generation fulfillment centers.

Our Automation Software Product team focuses on third-party automation software and its integration with Walmart’s in-house Warehouse Management and Control Systems. We partner with Operations, Engineering, Technology, and automation vendors to create reliable, scalable, and high-performing solutions that connect software with the physical movement of products through our fulfillment centers.

As an Automation Product Manager Intern supporting Fulfillment Automation Software, you will gain hands-on exposure to product management at the intersection of supply chain, software, robotics, data, and emerging technology.

What You’ll Do

  • Learn and practice product management by gathering feedback from Operations, Engineering, and other partners and helping translate business needs into product requirements, user stories, and measurable outcomes.
  • Support product discovery, roadmap planning, and backlog prioritization for automation software capabilities and integrations between third-party automation platforms and Walmart systems.
  • Use data to solve real operational problems by analyzing automation performance, identifying trends and opportunities, and helping develop dashboards and recommendations to improve system stability, throughput, and efficiency.
  • Participate in testing, pilots, and product launches, gaining exposure to how new software features, defect fixes, and system integrations move from an idea through validation and deployment in a live fulfillment environment.
  • Explore emerging technologies and help evaluate opportunities to apply Data, AI, Predictive Analytics, and Digital Twin capabilities to automation and fulfillment operations.
  • Collaborate across a broad technology ecosystem, gaining exposure to Warehouse Management Systems (WMS), Warehouse Control Systems (WCS), Automated Storage and Retrieval Systems (ASRS), Material Handling Equipment (MHE), robotics, and third-party automation platforms.

If you are curious about how technology moves millions of products through a complex supply chain and want to help develop products that connect software, robotics, data, and real-world operations, this internship provides an opportunity to learn while contributing to the future of automated fulfillment at Walmart.
