About this role

The Software Development Engineer Intern supports engineering teams in developing and improving software solutions while gaining hands-on experience in an Agile environment. This role participates in Scrum ceremonies, team meetings, and software development activities across web, mobile, API, and data-driven applications.
The intern also assists with DevOps tooling improvements, vulnerability remediation, and production support initiatives focused on reliability and quality. The position provides exposure to modern development practices and concludes with a capstone presentation highlighting internship achievements and contributions.
In this role you will
- Attend and participate in scrum events (the sprint, daily stand-ups, sprint planning, sprint review, sprint retrospective)
- Participate in team or departmental meetings
- Assist with vulnerabilities remediation
- Assist with building/improvement of DevOps tooling (e.g., pipelines, static scanning etc.)
- Complete the internship program final capstone presentation
- Maintain a production-first mindset focused on scale, uptime and ability to rapidly triage/resolve production issues
- Invest in our Agile practice to continuously improve product quality, time to market
- Learn to develop product features for any of the following: data marketplaces, mobile applications, web applications, and API services
What makes You an ideal candidate?
- Junior or Senior classification preferred.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills required. This incumbent will be required to give presentations and communicate with business leaders.
- Strong analytical, quantitative, problem solving, and conceptual skills required.
- Must be detail oriented and able to prioritize tasks to meet deadlines.
- Must be able to work independently or in a team setting.
- Previous internships are considered a plus
Additional Knowledge and Skills
Working effectively within an AI enabled environment:
- Ability to use AI tools (e.g., Microsoft Copilot) to support daily work
- Skills in evaluating AI outputs for accuracy, compliance, and bias
- Experience integrating AI into workflows to improve efficiency or insights
- Familiarity with AI assisted research, summarization, and content generation
- Understanding of responsible AI use, including ethics and data protection
AI Skills Preferred
- Experience with AI-assisted software development or automation
- Knowledge of prompting techniques to improve output quality
- Awareness of emerging GenAI capabilities and limitations
Experience and Education
- Must be a student pursuing a bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited college or university in Computer Science, Data Science, Data Analytics, Information Systems, Statistics with at least one semester remaining upon start of the internship.
- Must possess a minimum of a 3.0 (out of a 4-point scale) GPA.
