About One Subsurface Programme
One Subsurface is our early careers programme designed to create a pipeline of subsurface professionals. Early careers will follow a structured development offer to accelerate the acquisition of foundational technical skills, experience and knowledge, and application in the business world. The programme supports transition from university to discipline professional and provides a framework of 'non-technical' skills to support building personal effectiveness skills. Early careers will build their experience through challenging development assignments, grow a toolkit of transferable skills for the future, and have a dedicated network of support to help them succeed.
This is a three-year program with two 18-month rotations, including field experience.
About the role
As a Seismic Imaging Technology intern at bp, you will collaborate with leading scientists on cutting-edge geophysical research and development. Your work will span advanced seismic acquisition techniques, imaging, data processing, and reservoir characterization. You'll apply your expertise in digital signal processing, wave propagation, numerical simulation, inverse theory, and digital science to address complex subsurface challenges across exploration, production, carbon capture and storage (CCS), and low-carbon energy initiatives. Interns are expected to be proficient in modern programming languages and computing platforms and will implement and execute algorithms within bp's High Performance Computing Center. Strong communication skills are essential for engaging with technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Minimum Requirements
- Pursuing a PhD degree in Geophysics, engineering or applied sciences are preferred.
- Must have cumulative and major GPA of 3.2 or higher
- On a case-by-case basis, bp may support US Immigration sponsorship for full-time or long- term employment.
- Must be in final year, graduating from December 2026 through May 2027 or graduated in the last 3 years.
- Must be available to start on agreed upon global programme start dates (January 19, 2027 or June 21, 2027).
