About Thea Energy

Thea Energy is leveraging recent breakthroughs in stellarator physics and engineering to create a faster and simpler approach to commercializing fusion energy. The company is reinventing the stellarator using computer-controlled arrays of planar coils thereby replacing the intricate, complex modular magnets required in all other stellarator architectures. Thea Energy is on a mission to create a limitless source of zero emission energy for a sustainable future.

Thea Energy's approach to fusion confinement is uniquely positioned to leverage AI and learned surrogates in the design of its fusion power plant. Likewise, the large design space of the stellarator approach makes numerical optimization of figures of merit essential. Thea Energy is looking for a motivated intern with familiarity with toroidal plasma confinement devices to perform several tasks:

Implement reduced models of physics phenomena and engineering systems

Generate coupled workflows of integrated models including constrained numerical optimization of designs

Train surrogate models on high-fidelity simulation outputs
