What you'll be doing
Technology Operations is the team that helps keep our critical technology environments running smoothly, securely, and efficiently so our colleagues and clients can count on them every day. As a Mainframe Support Co-op, you'll support database-related changes in a mainframe environment and contribute to the maintenance of test environments that support ongoing delivery and operational readiness. You'll assist with process improvement initiatives and automation opportunities that help simplify workflows, improve accuracy, and strengthen team efficiency. You'll also support currency-related activities to help ensure technologies, tools, and environments remain current and aligned with operational needs. In this role, you'll work closely with experienced team members, build hands-on technical knowledge, and gain exposure to enterprise technology operations in a collaborative environment.
At CIBC we enable the work environment most optimal for you to thrive in your role. You'll have the flexibility to manage your work activities within a hybrid work arrangement where you'll spend 1-3 days per week on-site, while other days will be remote.

How you'll succeed
- Mainframe support - Support database changes within a mainframe environment by assisting with updates, validation activities, and related operational tasks.
- Environment maintenance - Help maintain test environments to support stable development, testing, and implementation activities.
- Process improvement - Identify opportunities to improve team processes and contribute to automation initiatives that increase efficiency and reduce manual effort.
- Technology currency - Assist with currency-related activities to help keep technologies, tools, and environments current and well supported.
- Team collaboration - Work closely with teammates and partners to complete assigned activities, share updates, and learn established operational practices.
Who you are
- You can demonstrate experience in Python, Microsoft Office, and database concepts. It's an asset if you have exposure to mainframe environments, scripting, automation tools, or certifications earned through IBM Z Xplore.
- You are pursuing a degree/diploma in computer science or a related discipline.
