The Federal Retirement Thrift Investment Board (FRTIB) is looking for a highly qualified and motivated individual to serve as Human Resources Assistant. As part of our team, you'll contribute to the stewardship of the Thrift Savings Plan (TSP)-the largest retirement plan in the U.S.--and help deliver exceptional service to federal employees, members of the uniformed services, and beneficiaries.
Duties
Review personnel forms and supporting documents to make sure information is complete, accurate, and ready for processing.
Maintain employee and position information in HR systems to ensure records are accurate and up to date.
Support the onboarding and separation of employees by completing required processing steps and maintaining official personnel records.
Identify and correct errors or missing information in personnel records, documents, and HR systems.
Provide employees, managers, and HR staff with information and assistance on HR processes and personnel actions.
Qualifications
Recent Graduate Program Eligibility: Completed, within the previous two years, a qualifying associate's, bachelors, masters, professional, doctorate, vocational or technical degree or certificate from a qualifying educational institution. Veterans unable to apply within two years of receiving their degree due to military service obligation have up to six years after degree completion to apply.
Specialized Experience: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade equivalent to a GS-04 in the federal government. Specialized experience must include:
GS-05:
a) reviewing documents, records, or transactions to verify completeness, accuracy, and compliance with established procedures;
b) maintaining information in automated systems or databases to support accurate recordkeeping;
c) applying policies, procedures, instructions, or guidelines to process administrative actions in accordance with organizational requirements; and
d) identifying discrepancies in records, data, or documentation to support corrective actions and maintain data integrity.
OR
Education: Successful completion of four years of education above the high school level obtained in an accredited junior college or university leading to a bachelor's degree.
OR
Combination of Experience and Education: combination of specialized experience and education.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Applicants wishing to receive credit for such experience must indicate clearly the nature of their duties and responsibilities in each position and the number of hours a week spent in such employment.
Education

Additional requirements
U.S. Citizenship is required. All qualification requirements must be met by 10/14/2026. One-year trial period may be required. Males born after 12/31/1959 must be registered for Selective Service Suitable for Federal employment, as determined by a background investigation. Program requirements as a Recent Graduate: Sign a participant agreement, mentorship throughout the program, and complete at least 40 hours of formal training.
