Are you interested in researching, developing, and analyzing innovative ways to produce impactful information from many different types of sensors and sources of data?

Would you like to advance your ideas from concept to prototype to field testing on US military ships, aircraft, satellites, and ground systems?

Would you take satisfaction in developing advanced capabilities that will be used by US military personnel to achieve their missions in Intelligence, Surveillance, Reconnaissance, and Targeting (ISRT) and Battle Management Command and Control (BMC2)?

If so, we'd love to have you join our team at APL!

We are seeking creative engineers, scientists, mathematicians, and programmers to help us conceptualize, develop, test, assess, and field the next generation of ISRT and Counter-ISRT capabilities for the US military.

Our team serves as the Laboratory’s premier engine for transforming cutting edge ISRT and BMC2 concepts into combat ready kill chain and counter–kill chain capabilities. We integrate high fidelity modeling and analytics, software interfaces and DevOps, operations and threat characterization, rapid prototyping, and integrated test and experimentation to address the most demanding capability gaps for the Joint Force. Our team designs and develops interoperable, end to end autonomous and distributed kill chain architectures and rigorously evaluates them through realistic, Joint All-Domain Command and Control (JADC2) focused test environments and field experimentation to ensure successful technology transition. Through this work, we enable warfighters to achieve and sustain dominance in contested environments across the full spectrum of conflict.

As an Engineer/Analyst for ISRT and BMC2 Scientific Applications, you may

  • Contribute to teams developing algorithms, mathematical-physical models, software prototypes, and deployable software applications for ISRT applications.
  • Use mission level modeling and simulation tools to evaluate and improve ISR&T and BMC2 concepts, sensor architectures, and kill chain performance.
  • Develop new multi-sensor data fusion, and multi-sensor resource optimization techniques.
  • Develop and analyze new ISRT and BMC2 concepts and architectures.
  • Plan, execute and conduct data analysis and integration and test (I&T) for field tests and experiments.
  • Collaborate with teams to develop user interfaces, visualizations, and network/web services.
  • Present your results to project leads, sponsors, and technical workshops and conferences.
