Electronics Internship to work with a small team of electronics engineers and technicians supporting engineering related projects. This position requires gaining and applying engineering knowledge to solve real world engineering design, testing, analysis, and development problems on a wide variety of products in the automotive, defense, motorsports, aerospace, marine, and smaller niche industries. These efforts can be applied to short or long-term projects including virtual prototype development, electronic component, system, and full vehicle design, laboratory testing, engineering analysis, control systems, and product/system validation.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND SKILLS

Typical responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Perform engineering analysis
  • Create engineering drawings, technical reports and specifications
  • Support design, selection, and integration of electronic components
  • Specify wiring and PCB requirements and designs
  • Develop standard operating procedures (SOPs) for system use and maintenance

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

In addition to the responsibilities mentioned above, tasks relating to the following areas will be assigned as required.

  • Strong teamwork and collaboration skills
  • Have great attention to detail, work ethic and pride in workmanship
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Be reliable (with reliable mode of transportation).
  • Have excellent mechanical ability and likes to work with their hands
  • Effective time management and organizational abilities
  • Microsoft Windows environment (Powerpoint, Excel, Teams, etc)

EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION/YEARS OF EXPERIENCE

  • Working toward a Bachelor's degree in Engineering: Electrical, Mechatronic, Computer or related technical field
  • Prefer participation in one or more collegiate-level design competitions (Formula SAE, Baja SAE, First Robotics, Solar Car, etc)

DESIRED SPECIALIZED SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE

  • Experience with schematic generation tools
  • Knowledge of CAN-based control systems, including architecture, programming, and diagnostics
  • Experience in harness design, build, and maintenance for vehicle data systems
  • Experience in PCB design and build
  • Experience with CAD software and 3D printing
  • Basic programming experience in languages such as Simulink, C++, Python, or Visual Basic

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Position requires occasional or frequent moderate physical activity

EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK

  • Standard 40 hours/week, weekday schedule with some flexibility.

Pay Range: $18.00 - $37.00

Within this range, individual pay is determined by various factors, including the scope and responsibilities of the role, the candidate's experience, education and skills, as well as the equity of pay among team members in similar positions.
