Our Team:
As a member of our Digital Design group, you will be working in a team environment, contributing to development of advanced digital subsystems in next generation mixed-signal ICs for Semtech's Signal Integrity Products Division. You will have the opportunity to contribute to products in our data communications or broadcast video product lines.
Job Summary:
Joining our Digital Design team means you'll gain comprehensive experience across the full spectrum of digital silicon development - from initial concept definition through design, verification, and final implementation. You'll play a vital role as a project team member, delivering exceptional work while taking ownership of your contributions to ensure we successfully achieve our project goals and deadlines.
Responsibilities
- Design RTL block for digital subsystems
- Interpret architecture and detailed design specifications to generate RTL or verification code
- Work with a team to functionally verify a design or component using constrained random functional verification
- Help create scripts and/or methodologies to improve or automate design processes
- Use the best in class CAD tools to implement digital designs (including Synthesis, DFT insertion, and STA/timing closure)
- Work with analog and digital engineers, system engineers and marketing to ensure the design meets all customer requirements
- Create technical, process or product documentation
- Assist in bring-up, lab debug, validation of products
Minimum Qualifications
- Completed at least 3 years of a bachelor's degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment
- Highly motivated and creative
- Well organized, thorough, and detail oriented
- Demonstrated ability to multitask and prioritize multiple simultaneous responsibilities
- Basic understanding of digital design and/or microelectronics; as evidenced through strong academic accomplishments in these areas
- Knowledge and familiarity with SystemVerilog, Verilog, or VHDL
- Knowledge and/or experience with programming and/or scripting languages: C/C++, Perl, Python, SystemVerilog, VisualBasic
- Knowledge and/or experience with object oriented languages (i.e. C++) is preferred
- Working knowledge of PC and Unix/Linux operating systems.
This position is for a 12 – 16-month student Digital IC design internship at Semtech Canada with the Signal Integrity Products Group (SIP) in our Burlington Design Centre.

A reasonable estimate of the pay range for this position is $26 - $28.5 CAD per/hr.
