As a Computer Science Engineering Intern at Cleveland-Cliffs, the projects assigned will vary based on the intern's education level and plant location, but will generally reflect the duties outlined below.

Summary of Responsibilities

  • Develop and enhance software tools that support manufacturing and automation processes.
  • Maintain, organize, and improve existing code libraries and applications.
  • Assist with HMI development, upgrades, and rebuild projects.
  • Support automation and process control initiatives through programming and system integration activities.
  • Create and update technical procedures, work instructions, and supporting documentation.
  • Participate in troubleshooting, testing, and validation of software and automation systems.
  • Collaborate with engineering, operations, and maintenance teams to identify opportunities for process improvement.
  • Document project results and provide recommendations for future enhancements.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Enrollment in Bachelor of Science program in the field of Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or other related technical degree
  • Completion of sophomore year of study by the summer of 2027
