The Clinical Operations and Global Strategic Evidence Generation organization in Raritan, NJ, is recruiting for a Summer 2027 Clinical Affairs & Strategy Intern to support strategic initiatives and priority projects across Clinical Affairs. The Clinical Operations & Global Strategic Evidence Generation team is part of the Johnson & Johnson MedTech Surgery organization. This internship provides meaningful experience in a collaborative MedTech environment while building foundational skills for careers in the medical device, healthcare, life sciences, or project management industries.
The J&J MedTech Surgery organization, based in Raritan, New Jersey, was founded more than 80 years ago as a pioneer in suture development and manufacturing, helping to transform the safety and effectiveness of open surgery.
The MedTech Organization offers a broad range of products, platforms and technologies including — sutures, hemostasis products, surgical staplers, trocars, and energy devices — that are used in a wide variety of minimally-invasive and open surgical procedures. Specialties include support for treatment of colorectal and thoracic conditions, women's health conditions, general surgery, oncology, and obesity.
This position is based out of the Raritan, NJ site but may be hybrid or remote based on candidate qualifications.
- The internship term is from May to August 2027
- Full-time requirement (40 hours per week)
The position in question will require
- Supporting strategic initiatives across Clinical Affairs, Clinical Operations, Evidence Generation, and related business functions
- Contributing to projects focused on process improvement, operational excellence, and organizational effectiveness
- Assisting with the development, analysis, and communication of clinical, operational, and business insights through dashboards, reports, presentations, and other tools
- Supporting project planning, tracking, and coordination activities across a diverse portfolio of clinical and evidence-generation programs
- Conducting research, data analysis, and landscape assessments to inform business decisions and strategic priorities
- Partnering with business areas to identify needs, prioritize activities, and support project plans, timelines, and deliverables
- Identifying opportunities to streamline processes and improve efficiency through digital tools, automation, artificial intelligence, and innovative ways of working
- Assisting with the creation and maintenance of project documentation, training materials, process maps, meeting summaries, and other business deliverables
- Collaborating with cross-functional stakeholders, including Clinical Affairs, Research & Development, Preclinical, Data Science, Marketing, and other business partners
- Participating in special projects and other assignments aligned with evolving business needs and organizational priorities

Required Qualifications
- Be enrolled in an accredited college/university during the internship
- Pursuing a bachelor's degree in engineering, pharmacy, health sciences or a related technical field
- Strong interest in medical devices, project management, and / or clinical research
- Only students who have completed their sophomore year or above will be considered
- Availability to work full-time (40 hours/week) during the internship
- A minimum GPA of 3.0 is required; a GPA of 3.2 or higher is strongly preferred
- Demonstrated leadership and/or participation in campus programs and/or community service activities is desired
- A high level of organization, strong communication skills and the ability to handle multiple tasks and meet challenging deadlines
- Strong drive to think outside the box and proactively identify solutions
- Intermediate to advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, MS Project and Power Point, and have strong oral and written communication skills
- Legal authorization to work in the United States and not require future sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g. H1-B status) now or in the future
- Demonstrated ability to work independently in a remote environment with minimal oversight
- Ability to provide their own transportation to the Raritan, NJ site
Preferred Skills
- Interest in healthcare, life sciences, medical technology, clinical research, project management, or business operations
- Experience with research, data analysis, visualization, process improvement, or project management through coursework, internships, or extracurricular activities
- Familiarity with emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence and digital tools, and a demonstrated ability to learn in a fast-paced environment
Permanently authorized to work in the U.S., must not require sponsorship of an employment visa (e.g., H-1B or green card) at the time of application or in the future. Students currently on CPT, OPT, or STEM OPT usually requires future sponsorship for long term employment and do not meet the requirements for this program unless eligible for an alternative long-term status that does not require company sponsorship.
The expected pay range for this position is between $23.50 per hour and $52.50 per hour but will be based on candidate's program year, discipline, degree and/or experience. Co-Ops/Interns are eligible to participate in Company sponsored employee medical benefits in accordance with the terms of the plan. Co-Ops and Interns are eligible for the following sick time benefits: up to 40 hours per calendar year; for employees who reside in the State of Washington, up to 56 hours per calendar year. Co-Ops and Interns are eligible to participate in the Company's consolidated retirement plan (pension).
