Work with a research scientist on unsolved imaging problems in radiation oncology, radiology, or nuclear medicine.
Review academic literature, design experiments, and analyze medical imaging data over 12 weeks.
Validate findings using MIM software products and communicate results to colleagues.
What they're looking for
Currently enrolled or starting a PhD or Masters in computer science, biomedical engineering, physics, applied math, or related field.
Programming experience in Python, Java, MATLAB, or C++.
Preferred: medical imaging, numerical methods, machine learning, or segmentation algorithm experience.
Pay and perks
Relocation assistance provided.
You're pursuing advanced work in mathematics, biomedical engineering, computer science, or a related field—and you've developed the curiosity and discipline that come with that commitment. You're not just looking for another internship; you're looking for a place where your training can be applied to real scientific problems and where the effort you invest will genuinely matter. This internship is designed for candidates who want to stretch their abilities, contribute to meaningful research in medical imaging, and evaluate whether a career in the healthcare industry is the right next step.
Over the course of your 12‑week internship, you'll work side‑by‑side with an experienced research scientist. You'll take on an unsolved challenge in radiation oncology, radiology, or nuclear medicine—an imaging problem where your ideas can push the boundaries of what's currently possible. With guidance from your mentor and teammates, you'll learn the clinical context, prepare the data, construct hypotheses, run experiments, and deliver your conclusions. Whether you uncover a breakthrough or map the limits of what we can do, your work will push our understanding forward. Either way, your contributions will influence future MIM Software products and support GE HealthCare's mission to improve patient care.
At GEHC-MIM, collaboration isn't just encouraged—it's how we operate. From day one in our Cleveland office, you'll be treated as a core part of the research team. Your curiosity will be met with enthusiasm, and your dedication will help drive meaningful innovation. We learn from you as much as you learn from us, and we rely on your great questions to push our work forward. Together we will deliver research that empowers clinicians to provide more precise, life‑changing care.
